Here I am going to get the cows around 2:45 in the afternoon. We milk at 3 am and 3 p.m.. This was a weekday so Naomi is home with just Jer and I at this time, the bigs are still at school. (They ride the bus home) Naomi stayed back with Jer and I gathered the cows.
I only milk on the days we give the milker-boys off. One of them milks with Jarret each day and they alternate. Ty use to always cover their days off, now it's me!
The cows hear the tractor coming and off they start walking in.
The next afternoon wasn't as cold so Naomi rode with me to gather the cows. She loves to do anything involving animals!
This cow already got milked and went to relax!
Cows mostly spend there days laying down or eating, and a very small fraction of their day are they in the milk barn.
When we are having nice and sunny weather the kids are on their favorite circle swing!
We ordered it from Amazon and it's the best.
You can't have life lately with out mentioning laundry right!?! I do about 1-2 loads of laundry a day to keep up. I've tried doing "laundry days" and it is just too much work. I works out best for me if I do at least one load a day.
My thoughts exactly!
Along with laundry we are constantly washing our kid's shoes. They always get muddy this time of year so it was Bryce's shoe day, haha!
To wash all the big chunks or mud off I take them to the barn and scrub the mud off with hot-hot water. Then for the cleaning part I just use a scrub brush with a little hot water, laundry detergent and a lot of elbow grease. Now you set them in the sun to dry!
During the day Naomi has a lot of one-on-one time with me and she like to pal around with whatever I'm doing or if she doesn't she's playing near me.
On this day she went with me to dump a load of branches we collected off the lawn or surrounding areas and took them down below.
There was also a lot of left over feed in the bottom or the gator's bed so we swept that out for the cows too.
They were patiently waiting, haha!
Since Valentine's day is Tuesday, the kids have to bring in decorated boxes for their class parties and I took the easy way by buying kits!!! You can't beat it, $5 dollars from Target, do it yourself kit that comes with everything in it!
First we put Maddie's together because she couldn't contain her excitement.
Then we put Naomi's together!
She waited patiently for her turn..
I put the box together for her and let her put the heart stickers where ever she wanted!
She can't wait for her box to be filled with candy and goodies
Bryce's class is doing surprise bags and they have to decorate the outside. At first he said he didn't want to and then the next day he decided to do a little decoration, lol!
At the end of the day when the kids are asleep, Jer is usually taking a shower and I'll read for a little bit before we watch a show together.
Remember, I'm trying to read more! #newyearsgoal
What's your take, I like to read books that you're holding but, I don't want to be bothered with what to do with them after, so I'm learning to like the kindle version. Do you like a book in hand or kindle version?
I did a January book review here!
Also I thought I'd share my favorite way to drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (organic, raw and unfiltered), in 4 oz of pineapple juice!
The pineapple juice helps mask the taste.
I've also been using 50% diluted apple cider vinegar with water as my facial toner after I wash my face!
There is always repairs & maintenance that need to be done.
That's some of our dairy life lately and have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!
