OUR HOMESCHOOL LIFE: HOW I STORE CRAFT/SCHOOL SUPPLIES

I am always curious how other people store their craft/school supplies for homeschool or tot-school. Essentially you are having to store a class rooms worst of supplies in your house, now if you are like me and do not have an actual “homeschool-room” because your house size doesn’t allow you have to get creative. In our first year of homeschool (kindergarten), we stored all our craft/school supplies in our hall closet. That worked fine for the whole school year but, it took away from the storage for household items-towels, bedding, iron etc…

For first grade we purchased a two-door cabinet from Lowe’s that stays in the garage and that is now where I house all the supplies. It works out GREAT!!!

One thing that I love using are the “shoe-size” bins that you can purchase in a bundle from Target or Container store, they fit perfectly and you don’t have a lot of money out.

They way I organize our supplies is by type and trying to keep like items together. I will break down the shelves for you and the method to my madness…

1. Paper goods: laminating pouches, page protectors, glue-gun, construction paper…

2. Messy Hand Play: playdoh, paint, finger paints, glitter-glues for slime making…

3. Keeping Madison Busy: manipulative type toys, letters, games, sponges…

4. Art Supplies: Foam sticker, stickers, pom-pom balls, makers etc…

5. Bottom: laminating machine, extra stickers, odds and ends…

I hope you found it helpful to see how WE organize our craft/school supplies and that it inspires you to organize yours as well.

Have a Great Saturday and Weekend!
