Today I want to share something I have been loving recently and it is dessert bars…seriously, like the best thing ever!!!
Most of you all know I love to cook for my family, but I also love to bake for them too. During the week, I really don’t bake that often because of the lack of time and I also really don’t like the kids to have much dessert during the week. I think it is important to learn, for me and them, that you don’t have to have dessert after dinner every night. It is a treat and your waist line will thank you later too!
Ok, back to the main point…dessert bars!!!
I love me some mint chocolate chip ice cream, fro-yo with the kids, o-m-g brownies, and warm cookies right out of the oven with a cup of coffee…but right now it is all about B-A-R-S!!!
The are easy, delicious, maybe a few steps, pop them in your favorite 9×13 pan and in the oven they go. Sometimes they are no bake but, once you pull them out of the oven and let them cool, you can cut them as little as you want or in long rectangles.
Two bars I made this past week were Lemon Coconut Neiman Marcus bars, recipe by Mix and Match Mama’s blog and my 7 Layer Bars that Jer loves. They are both complete opposites, one is chocolatey and more candy bar like and the other is more fresh and a perfect bar for spring & summer.
This is my favorite pan for baking bars or brownies, the side walls aren’t as high, so it makes for easy cutting and serving.
It’s by Calphalon and under $20 dollars, you can pick it up off of Amazon here!
I created a board on Pinterest dedicated to BARS that look pretty yummy, feel free to check it out or repin!
Happy baking and I’ll see ya soon,
