Summer for us means playing outside, barbecuing, spending time with family, making memories and Summer School Review!
I know it sounds horrible for me to have the kids do a little schoolwork over their vacation but seriously the kids really do forget a lot of the skills they learned during the school year. Our schedule is Monday-Thursday they do one page of math, one page of language arts and Bryce does 20 minutes of reading and Maddie works on her pre primer sight words.
My favorite summer review workbooks are by the Moffatt Girls, you purchase the file online, download it and print it off at home.
Maddie’s working on her Kindergarten review and she loves to do “her homework” as she calls it…
Some of the review packet is a little ahead of her so we just skip the parts that she’s not ready for yet. 🙂
Bryce is not as enthusiastic as Maddie is but, he is working on his 3rd grade review, haha!
He is very familiar with how Annie from the Moffatt Girls sets up her “no prep” packets since he has been doing them since kindergarten. 🙂
Besides doing our workbooks, I’ve been having Bryce read for 20 minutes a day or one chapter out of his chapter book.
He loves books about dogs or puppies. #doglover
I picked this book up for him from Target, when I saw the words Puppy Pirates then I knew he would like it!!!
My goal is for the kids to be prepared for their next grade and ready to learn!
What are you doing to help your kiddos maintain their knowledge this summer?
