Happy Wednesday Friends & Family!
It’s that time of year again where everyone is setting their New Year’s resolutions for 2017.
I love to start the year with goals in mind but, I don’t like to set unrealistic-unattainable goals either. I think everyone should have some small attainable goals, seasonal goals, personal goals and a few overall yearly goals. This is just my suggestions and what has worked or I’ve learned from things that haven’t worked for me in the past.
I first wanted to go over some of my last year’s goals and let you know if I was even able to follow through with them or they fell by the wayside!
These were my 2016 Goals:
*My goal is to slow down and be more present when the kids are home or awake, now I can run around like a bat out of hell when they are in school, but when they are home or awake I want to be in the moment and not on my phone or computer.
Slowing down was a big one for me, some parts of the year I was better at it and other parts of the year I struggled with trying to do too much. I did make an effort to have dinner prepped or ready by the time the kids got off the bus, so then I could devote my time to homework etc.
*I want to continue to make our new house (or new to us) a home and make it more conducive to our lifestyle.
I continued to work at making our house a home, but not too much. #workinprogress
*On the weekends I am going to unplug from social media!
I did good about unplugging on the weekends for awhile then was back at it but, I did post way less than I did before on instagram and will continue this on into 2017!
*Last but not least, set boundaries for work, because the dairy industry is 365 days a year.
Yes I will say that I did pretty good about setting boundaries for work or saying I just can’t take all that on right now or it’s just too much!
Now with those in mind, here are my goals for 2017…
MY 2017 GOALS
1. Personal- Continue on my fitness journey! I have been consistently working out for over a year and I think it’s safe to say that I’ve made it a habit and priority. Not only is working out great for my body but, it’s even better for my mental health!
2. Marriage- I want to do my best on taking 2 trips a year, just Jarret and I! Even if it’s just a local stay-cation or it’s driving 3-5 hours away or even flying somewhere…I want to make that an attainable goal for us.
3. Parenting- I want to continue to be more present for the kids (less phone), enjoy the chapter of life I’m in with the kids right now and create more memories and experiences.
(*I know this is broad statement but, it’s true! I get caught up with the day-to-day and may not do things because I have a pile of laundry staring at me or the kitchen floor looks like it’s been walked on for a week. I really want to create more lasting memories and make it a priority for my family)
4. Other- This is a total clique but seriously I want to organize and declutter the WHOLE house, it’s driving me insane!!! I’m a minimalist at heart, I like to have 1 or 2 good things rather than a whole slew of stuff and if that is your jam and you like having a lot of stuff, that’s cool too.
It’s just doesn’t work for me and I’m starting in the girl’s room!!! Duhn, duhn duhn…wish me luck, haha!
So those are my four main goals for 2017. I also like to set little weekly goals and also monthly goals too. But those I set depending on what’s happening that month or what’s going on that week. For example, the kids are going back to school this week, so therefore I have more time to devote to some small projects and one of those is cleaning the office, filing papers and making my desk visible again, haha!
