Happy Monday Friends!
All of us survived the freeze that blew through on Friday. The brunt of the storm ended up being North of us, but we were still on the out-skirts. Everything did get a thin layer of ice and the temps were pretty chilly as well! Everyone kept telling us to be prepared, it can get real ugly-like loose power, can’t get on the roads etc. Although we were hit pretty mildly I am glad that we all took it seriously and got prepared! Wednesday I picked up a load of firewood from a local seller, Thursday I stocked up on groceries, our propane tank was filled that afternoon and Friday the kids were home from school. Animals were all fed extra heavy to stay warm and as soon as chores were done Jer was inside staying warm and Ty was at his house toasty!
All safe and sound on the farm.
The fence posts all had these little icicles hanging down and when you walked on the grass all you heard was crunching underneath your feet.
See how the road looks shiny, that is actually a thin layer of ice!
Then all the ice melted and everything turned muddy…
Our milker boys that help the guys milk had the long weekend off, Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon, so that meant Bryce helped in the afternoon and you can bet there was a lot of joking and laughing!
Sunday was FOGGY, see how dense the fog is…it was like this all day!?!?
These boys love to dress to impress when it comes to their work attire!
Why dirty your good clothes right?
Bryce washing bottles.
One, you can tell how hot the water is….
…Or two, you can tell how cold it is in there?
Hint: It was both, ha!
So what did the girls do…?
Playdoh, watched Finding Dory, colored, played toys, took naps, Maddie went to Grandma’s one afternoon, built puzzles…lets just say, what didn’t they do!?!!
Thursday while I ran errands and the big kids were still in school, Naomi was having special time at Grandmas and Saturday both the girls were supposed to be over there because Bryce had a tournament that was canceled.
So Maddie still went over there solo, to have some alone time and Naomi was my little helper, helping me fold and put away laundry. She likes to have little jobs. ☺
Playdoh is one of those things that will never go out of style!
Sunday was my Sister Riley’s 28th Birthday and sadly we couldn’t be with her to celebrate her special day but we wished her Happy Birthday over the phone and on Hangout!
We did manage to still have a little cupcake and ice cream to celebrate!!!
On the drive back from getting cupcakes and ice cream, I noticed this whole herd of deer in the neighbors little pasture that parallels our driveway entrance. There was six you can see clearly but there was a few more behind that pile that you couldn’t see!
Naomi: “Oh no, Santa lost his reindeer!??”
Maddie: “Those aren’t Santa’s reindeer Me-omi! Santa’s reindeer have antlers and wear a red ribbon with gold bells on them!!!”
Naomi: “Oh yeah, your right Maddie!”
Maddie: “Mom, is that right?”
Me: “Yes, that’s right.”
That was our weekend!
We didn’t do too much besides what needed to get done and otherwise we were inside. I did manage to declutter some more and get caught up on laundry! Some what…
Oh yeah and I finished reading Winter Street by Elin Hilderbrand, took me a little bit to get into because it was building the character’s story line then halfway through it started reading pretty fast! One of my things I want to improve on is reading more and to keep with that I’m trying to set out a little time everyday!
Alright Peoples, have a great Monday,
