Hi friends, how’s your week going so far…? My week had a great start with Jarret being home Monday morning, he got to do the school drop off and we ran some errands together. The last time he was home on a Monday morning was sometime in March!
Sunday was Bryce’s 12th birthday, our first baby is 12!!?!
How can that be…it seems like yesterday he was in 3rd grade or even younger. A lot of times I have to check myself on the fact that he’s not a “big-boy” but a young man now. Bryce is a good student, a nice friend and has a kind heart…there is not much else I could ask for.
This year Bryce’s birthday fell on a Sunday, so we were all home to celebrate him! We started the day off by going on a nature walk on our new favorite trail!
His request was if he could bring his new off-road r.c. car he got for his birthday.
If anything, it was the perfect place for him to test it out to the best of it’s abilities because there is so much different terrain that it would have to go over.
The girls were so excited because they haven’t been on this part of the trail before!
I love this place because it reminds me of being back on the farm and taking our family nature walks.
Bryce usually complains about going on a family nature walk, typical almost teenage boy right, but on this day it was fun because his car had obstacles.
His r.c. car made it with the help of back up battery packs!
Maddie not so much, she was done!
Our birthday present to Bryce was a new bike!
We haven’t bought him a new bike in YEARS, he has been riding hammy-down bikes for a while now and we thought this would be the perfect gift.
It also happened that my Aunt Teri gifted us with an amazing bike carrier and hitch, she surprised us with it when it arrived in the mail!
It was perfect, now I can take the kids on bike rides and all our bikes can go, not just the girls!
Bryce assembled the bike rack and Jarret mounted the hitch.
Later in the day we went to eat at Applebee’s upon Bryce’s birthday dinner request.
Then we came home, let our food settle and sang Happy Birthday with cake & ice cream and then he played with the neighbor kids.
Bryce had a whole little system set up, he was the operator and they were digging up the dirt for him to load in his r.c. dump truck.
This has been great for him to have these friends to play with!
Then it was trampoline bouncing at the neighbors!
Although non of the kids are in the same grade as Bryce, it has been such a blessing for him to have these friends to play with in the evenings or on the weekend without having to formally schedule a “play date”.
All week he was receiving packages in the mail from family for his birthday since they all live out of state. The kids look forward to this when it’s their birthday because for about a week they get something new everyday in the mail everyday!
And that’s it!
It was a pretty chill birthday but, he felt the love by all the presents that came in the mail.
Talk to you soon,
