Heyyy, Happy Monday!!! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was pretty relaxed considering I’m on “light duty”, due to the ankle, Naomi started soccer and Maddie had horseback riding lessons.
More importantly we are t-minus 3 days til school starts and we need to get our act in order when it comes to our morning routines, nightly routines and lunch packing! This year Bryce is going to pack his lunch so there is a lot less arguing of what went into his lunch etc. We also have meet the teachers night tonight & tomorrow. Then we are back to school!
Horseback Riding Lessons.
I wanted to share a few pictures from Maddie’s horseback riding lesson at the end of last week.
She looks forward to this lesson all week and we all enjoy seeing her ride.
Maddie is getting more comfortable on Spirit and trotted on him with her arms out to the side!
But the highlight of her lesson was when Honey-Biscuit came out…
They were teaching the girls about brushing the horse.
She hopes they have this little mini horse out next time she has a lesson!
Naomi had her first soccer practice this weekend and she was so excited!
Jarret & I thought it would be great for Naomi to learn a sport and to be part of a team. I think this is going to help her build more confidence, learn what it is to be a team player and have fun while doing it.
She is in the 5 year old division, so I imagine they are all starting Kindergarten this year too.
As expected non of the kids really knew what to do, this is all new for them. But is was fun to watch the kids just stand there or take off doing a drill into the other parts of the fields where other teams were practicing, lol!
We are going to get some little cones and a little goal to have at the house so we can practice some drills at home with her so she can be more confident when games start.
She did great when they were playing “tag”. It was when someone was “it” and they had to try and get the ball away from you by kicking it away from you. When someone was pressing her and trying to get the ball, she did pretty good keeping it away!
I need to order her a little strap for the back of her glasses that helps to keep them up when she is playing so they don’t keep sliding off when she gets all sweaty and looks down.
This will be an exciting chapter for Naomi, kindergarten and soccer, big things!
Scene of the crime.
After soccer practice we took Jarret to the walking trail where I fell, he wanted to get a visual of the terrain and where it was.
The kids were so excited about this for some reason, ha!
Should I of done this walk…? Probably not, but I felt fine and took it slow. This was the only unnecessary thing I did all weekend. Otherwise Jarret and Bryce really helped with picking up the slack for me.
If I wasn’t icing or elevating, I usually had my ankle wrapped in an ace bandage for extra support.
Jarret thought this trail was really pretty and we both thought it would look beautiful during the Fall months.
Icing & Elevating.
As I mentioned above, I put myself on “light duty” to help my minor sprained ankle heal faster. I don’t limp when I walk, but I’m not as fast because of the tightness that is there and minor swelling.
The icing really helps and the compression wrapping does too.
If I wasn’t laying on the couch with my foot propped up, then I was outside watching the girls play.
And more icing!!!
Since Moms just can’t, take off and leave all their responsibilities, I have been waaayyy more mindful of taking breaks and making sure I get pressure off my ankle and then tackling the next set of tasks and getting pressure off. That will pretty much be my routine this week since Jarret is back at work.
Hope you all have a great week and talk to ya soon!
