Hello Friends, Happy Wednesday! We had our last football and soccer game this past Saturday. It was bittersweet because we love watching the kids be involved in sports & activities. On the one hand, I’m glad games are over because the weather is starting to get chilly and it’s no fun sitting out in the cold and wet weather. I’m sad not seeing Bryce out there in his uniform and Naomi out there being involved with her peers. They might play basketball but, we still have a little bit of time to sort that out.
Madison is also done with horseback riding lessons until the Springtime. The stable closes for the winter and at the end of this month and she would have been released to start riding again right around the same time.
When I first signed them up for all their activities I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it all work. I just knew that someone’s practice was going to be at the same time as the other and sure enough, Bryce and Naomi had practice at the same time on Tuesdays. Thankfully it all worked out in the end with dropping Bryce off a little early and going to Naomi’s practice, then turning back and waiting for Bryce.
It sounds like a mess and sometimes it was lol, but we made it…I made it!
One huge thing was Jarret is home every weekend so he was able to get Bryce to his games on time, while I was still with Naomi at her games. Maddie would take turns either choosing to go with Mom or Dad. Whatever parent she thought she was going to be able to get a treat from at the gas station!
This set of siblings have been thru a lot together and prove time-and-time again to be resilient.
The girls were keeping busy at the game this Saturday with backpacks full of toys, snacks and things to keep them busy.
Last Saturday’s game was cold n’ wet and not too much fun for the girls. During the middle of the 4th quarter, I ended up taking the kids to the car to warm up and watch a show on my phone until Bryce was done.
Bryce’s arms and hands were so cold and wet after the game that we stripped his shoulder pads and shirt off and he rode home wrapped in a blanket.
Two things happen during Fall in Missouri…
One, the weather and colors are just gorgeous and two, Tia Rocky comes out from California to visit, lol!
My Tia Rocky does not like the heat and humidity, so it is probably best that she waits until Fall because everything is at its best here.
As much as we could we went for a walk every morning after dropping off the kids at school.
One thing that Tia & I have in common is we love to get outside and walk.
Isn’t this pretty, with the reflection coming off the water…
One day on our walk the sun was beaming so bright thru the trees that we stopped and both said a quiet prayer.
Eating like a tourist!
You know when you have family in from out of town and you go eat or do something touristy that you may not normally do…well that was Tia and me last week.
We ate at Lambert’s Cafe and had some good, down-home cooking. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a salad and Tia got chicken strips, potatoes, and salad. Here they’re famous for their fresh baked rolls that they toss at you. This is a real dinning experience and the food is good!
Another place I took her is called City Butcher. Their menu is simple, but there is nothing simple about the flavor and smoke in the sandwiches or sides. We both ordered a “pig-bird” smoked turkey and pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. This meal is so good, it makes you appreciate some good barbecue!
Countdown to Christmas.
Christmas is a little over 60 days away and this weekend starts the countdown to Christmas on the Hallmark channel!
I know, it is not November 1st yet, the official day we are allowed to talk about Christmas but…the movies are starting…and we started listening to Christmas carols this week.
My Sister, my Mom and I are already talking about it, we just love Christmas movies!
I’ve already started my Christmas shopping last week…it started with new slippers for Jer & Bryce and new dolls for the girls. That’s also a big candy bag for Halloween down there too!
My Christmas shopping strategy this year is buying a little bit here and there leading up to Christmas, so then it’s not a big hit in the month of December. I plan to have my kid’s Christmas shopping done within the next month. I pretty much have everything in my shopping cart all ready or know what I’m getting.
I’m also planning a gift guide for girls 6-8 years old and for a tween boy, this is what I’ll be purchasing or what they already have and love!
Alright, Friends, that is all I have for now…I’m really trying to put some new systems in place for me to be more efficient and consistent with blogging! I love to blog and share and with some better planning, prioritizing and producing I think I can be more efficient in the long run.
Talk to you soon,
